Home Remedies for Living With Diabetes



Diabetes or sugar or madhumeh is a medical condition in which there is either insufficiency of insulin or inability of the cells to use the provided insulin effectively and efficiently. Diabetes if not properly managed, may cause cardiovascular problems, kidney problems and blurred vision. Diabetes is a lifelong chronic disease. In this condition the body becomes unable to extract the sugar cells from the bloodstream to be used as energy. As a result there is a high-level of sugar in the blood and lower energy levels for the individual suffering from diabetes. This chronic disease sometimes can be caused because of the some viral infections.

Diabetes is caused by the increase in sugar level. This can be because of obesity, stress and diet. Exercise helps to keep the sugar level to normal in the blood cells. It also helps to control the stress level which again is the root cause of diabetes. By daily doing light exercise many problems related to diabetes like kidney disorder, cardiovascular problems, constipation can be easily and effectively cured. Walking also helps to control the stress level and assists in controlling the body weight which in turn prevents the onset of diabetic complications.

There are certain home remedies that can be carried out to control the diabetic condition and to prevent and delay the onset of diabetic complications.

Cinnamon
Eating one teaspoon of cinnamon greatly helps in maintaining the blood sugar levels. It is because of this property of cinnamon that it is sometimes termed “poor man insulin”

Fenugreek Seeds
It is also termed hilba. Soak 1 teaspoon full of the seeds in 1 cup of water. Leave it overnight. The diabetics should drink this water as the first thing in the morning. Better eat the seeds as well. This also works as insulin.

Bitter Gourd
Deseed 1 small bitter gourd. Soak it in a cup of water. Drain it to drink daily in the morning.

Plantain
Properly wash and peel a plantain of green colors, place the peel in jar and cover it with plain water. Diabetics should drink this water three times a day.

Mango Leaves
Boil around 15 mango leaves in 1 cup water. Leave it overnight and stain in the morning. This also has to be taken empty stomach

Garlic
Eat garlic every day

Apple Cider Vinegar
Take 6 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar thrice a day.

Turmeric
Add turmeric to your daily routine cooking
